Unusual Options Activity — India
Tracking unusually large or fast-building NSE options trades, in real time, across index and stock options.
"Unusual options activity" (UOA) trackers have long existed for US markets, where a public real-time options tape makes it straightforward to compare a trade's size against a contract's normal pattern. NSE doesn't publish an equivalent consolidated real-time feed, so building an Indian UOA tracker means assembling and processing live market data directly — which is a big part of why this kind of tool has been rare for NSE traders specifically.
DaySwingTrader is built as an Indian unusual options activity tracker: it watches trading across NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, and 200+ individual NSE stock options, and flags trades whose size, pace, or open-interest impact stand out from that contract's own normal pattern.
Categories of unusual activity tracked
- Sweeps — a single large trade filled quickly, often across multiple price levels
- Blocks — a large trade reported as one transaction
- Accumulation — a position quietly built from several trades on the same strike in a short window
- OI-confirmed builds — unusual trades where open interest afterward confirms a genuinely new position
Each is explained in plain language in the Learn section, including what makes activity "unusual" in the first place and how OI confirmation works.
Index vs. stock options activity
Unusual activity looks different on index options (NIFTY, BANKNIFTY) than on individual stocks. Index options see far higher baseline volume, so what counts as unusual there is a much larger absolute size. Stock options, especially on less liquid names, can show a trade that's small in absolute terms but represents a huge multiple of that stock's normal options activity — which is often the more interesting signal precisely because it stands so far outside the norm.
